What are the regulations on the use of tip credit to pay its employees below minimum wage?
Restaurants use Credit Council, so they can pay their employees well below the minimum wage. This shows restaurant bill: 12% for the service is already added to the account. You do not have to tip. This last sentence is bothering me! Their employees are paid below the minimum. They make sure they do enough to reach minimum by adding a service charge to the card. Then turn around and remove the opportunity for additional tips for telling the client not to tip. Can this be a legal question regarding the tip credit? What are your thoughts.
