I will admit to being a jazz purist. When I go to see jazz played, I do not want to see any instrument plugged into the wall (with the exception of a guitar) .. Please, no electric bass, only an acoustic double bass for me. Please, no computerized rhythm, give me drums. I have this Juke Box EP Ascension of John Coletrane. about 7 or 8 minutes a side. I mean that you have to be just about the coolest jazz 7 "I have ever come across! Lp wise …… Hmmm …… I DO love Anthony Braxton's Saxophone Improvisations Series F, Peter Brotzmann's Machine Gun, The Circle 2 LP set on the ECM label, the Alan Silva triple LP set on BYG and Detlef Schonenberg's Spielt Schlagzeug is a true thing of beauty ……. I know you are probably looking for non free jazz stuff but these are some of my absolute all time fave's off the top of my head. If I were picking a Miles album it d be Jack Johnson, Agharta or On The Corner and somehow I KNOW You is not lookin 'for anything from those eras Miles! So howzabout Charles Mingus – Mingus Ah Um as far as a "traditional" type jazz album then?
