Hanging File

The progress bar stops working when copying large files on the drive.?

I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. My hard drive Seagate 250GB external. When i copy 1 or a small file (<1 GB), the system works well. But when you copy a batch file> 1GB hang halfway. I tried using it on windows xp, it works without problems. I wonder what is the problem of view? What should I do?
